Update, I used a wirewheel to remove all traces of rust and the panel filler was hiding a lot of rust. I guess I need to replace that?

Kinja'd!!!

After removing all the rust I put some auto primer.

Kinja'd!!!

Passenger side even had a larger hole!

Kinja'd!!!

Need to buy some bondo and I should paint over it?

Yesterday afternoon I removed some bolts to get behind the fender / firewall and found a handful of decomposed leaves, acorns, and twigs.(acorns look like the ones from my old house) The black foam was soaking wet, pretty much also decomposing as I squeezed the water out.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

The leaves were sandwiched between that thin metal next to the park brake cable and the black fender (top of picture) that is pulled away

Yesterday.

The carpet in my S-10 never wanted to dry so I removed the dam thing.

Quite easy to do, just be careful not to bump the airbag sensor sticking straight up in the middle of the cab :|

Kinja'd!!!

The drivers side floor been wet for a few months, but looks like this damage could of been years?

I pulled up on the rubber piece above the pedals and I got some water on my gloves. I’ll stick my inspection camera up there to see if there is any more damage.

Kinja'd!!!

Some where along the wheel well side of the drivers side... windshield?

I will be taking a wire wheels and remove all the rust and bubbled paint, then prime and paint. Letting the carpet dry in the shed.

Do you have a sunroof? if yes, if the drain is working properly it dumps on top of door hinge. if not, it goes into the cowl.   it’s a lose-lose situation.  (taken from my dealings with the prestigious s-blazer.    might also be coming in thru wiper seals.

I have an inexplicable leak somewhere in the firewall that drips down my clutch pedal that I chased for 3 years. Gave up and park it in the garage now.

Had this same issue on my 1999 Suburban. Culprit turned out to be a bad windshield seal due to rust on the windshield frame. I was getting damp carpets for a while and just couldn’t figure out why until I saw it dripping one day.

So far as I can tell the drivers side is good. I do need to remove the center part where the windshield wipers are.

I removed one side of the wheelwell and found a handful of rotten and decaying leaves that were soaking wet right on the otherside of the big rust spot. Right between the fender and firewall.

My company Colorado leaked from the rear window, dunno why GM can’t manage to keep water out or build a functioning g aug e cluster.

Sounds like there’s a rust hole allowing wetness and debris into the cabin.

Please do not use Bondo for those holes.

Bondo is not the correct tool for the job. Bondo is body filler intended for filling low spots and small holes , not holes like this . Most definitely not rust holes. Especially not in a load bearing weld area.

Please use a proper, welded in patch. Kill the rust, POR15 or seal the edges, slap a hunk of actual metal on top. (Or if your weld-fu is stronger than mine, just fill it. I’m not good at anything but tack welding.)

Make a friend. I’ll be your friend. I have 2 welders. Used one for 10 minutes in all of my life. We can probably make a bigger hole in your car with it, but it will be fun

I have a 99 corvette. Passenger side window leaks.

I think GM is in the business of making sunk boats.

Small holes like that on our rally car i clean up and squirt windshield sealant into. Be the monster you want to see in the world.

strip that primer and POR 15 it then use fiberglass to repair (I saw you don’t have welder access). Repair both sides so it remains air tight.

Or, take it to a local Line-X shop and have them do both sides. That shit is amazing.

Welding in patches wouldn’t be too bad to fix those. Bondo over the holes is not the answer, it’ll just make it worse down the road.

If you want to be only semi-sketchy, put that foil “metal repair tape” you can get over the hole, it’ll waterproof it without being a sponge like bondo will. Naturally, clean up the rusty edges and paint first to slow the spread.

Im going with this idea. Seems the cheapest and the reviews are great. I’ll sand off the primer I put once I get the por15 in.

I guess I’ll be turning my S10 into a ratrod :P

honestly if you go the Line-X route then you don’t need to remove the p rimer, just scratch it up with some 80 grit. They’ll use metal tape to cover the hole. When that stuff cures it’s water tight and impermeable .

Hows the gauge cluster? Out of all 3 of our work Silverados/colorados, none have a completely functional cluster.
